A journey of a thousand steps starts beneath one’s feet. - Lao Tzu (Un chemin de mille lieues commence toujours par un premier pas) This photo was taken on a return trip to a place that saved my heart. It’s a park in France. This photo is taken in spring eight years after that desperate winter’s day. It looks a lot different in the warm spring light, and I felt as different inside as the sunny scene suggests. This park represents a day I reached for a new beginning, with every breath believing in another thread to hold on to. Taking a walk to find the vibration of life in a frozen wonderland of foreignness. I had been on a long journey to get there, and I was reaching for the resolve to continue walking.

In a frozen park I found enough tastes of beauty to nourish my withering winter’s heart.
